What to expect
An initial consultation generally lasts up to an hour as a full case history and structural and postural assessment is performed.
Your specific diagnosis and best treatment approach will then be explained to you prior to beginning treatment, which begins during the first session. As the history and knowledge of a patient is already established, subsequent appointments will be 30-40 minutes.
Different conditions require different periods of time to resolve and some improvement is expected within 2 – 6 treatments. However complete resolution of symptoms will depend on your individual response to treatment and your condition.
You are welcome to bring another person to accompany you during treatment. During assessment and treatment most patients change down to their underwear to allow a full assessment of their body and to see if any postural issues are causing, or being caused by, a person's condition. You are welcome to bring along a pair of shorts and a vest top and gowns are usually available on request.
Sometimes advice on stretches, posture - especially at work - and exercise is given to get the maximum effect from treatment and, if necessary, diagnostic tests such as x-rays and scans can be arranged for you during a course of treatment.
